Life Is What You Bake It
Hey all! This week was a whole lot different than last, in a very good way. I managed to get a lot done and finally prioritized some parts of my business. I finally finished the two different Valentine's Day boxes I want to offer this year and even got to test out a new technique. This week was definitely a lot more productive than I thought.
I spent the first few days of this past week trying to brainstorm and decide on what exactly I wanted to produce for the upcoming holiday. I came up with a chocolate dipped strawberry box with some fresh roses and a standard dozen cupcake box. The strawberries were fairly simple to get the hand of, especially since I used to make them so often last year.
The cupcakes, on the other hand, were a whole new ball park. I had never tried to do a sort of ombre icing design before and definitely found it challenging initially. I tried 2 different techniques (Technique 1 - Two-Tone Buttercream and Technique 2 - Rainbow Frosting Swirl ), both of which did not actually work for me. After struggling and failing with these two, I instead tried placing the different icing colours in cling-wrap and then putting those in a singular icing bag, which (*drum-roll*) worked!
Overall, this past week came with a lot of work and several different obstacles, but I am glad that I was able to finish these boxes. The next step is pricing and posting them on my Instagram page and finally beginning taking orders. I am also beginning to think about the website I want to create as a product of this blog and should start researching different themes or ideas about what I want it to look like and what it should encompass.
As promised, I have attached the pictures of the two different strawberry/rose boxes as well as the new cupcake techniques I tried.
Until next time,
xoxo Perry
